General Information
The contract and waiver are essential documents that protect both you, the renter, and Rentlz.ca. By signing, you acknowledge and agree to the terms and conditions of the trailer rental, which include:
- Confirmation of Responsibility: You confirm that you are responsible for the safe and proper use of the trailer during the rental period.
- Understanding of Usage Restrictions: You acknowledge any limitations on the trailer’s use (e.g., not for commercial work, travel duration to the USA).
- Acceptance of Liability: You agree to be responsible for any damage to the trailer that occurs during your rental period, beyond normal wear and tear.
- Agreement to Fees and Charges: You acknowledge the rental fees, potential late return charges, cleaning fees (if applicable), and any other outlined costs.
- Release of Liability: The waiver portion outlines the inherent risks associated with towing a trailer and releases Rentlz.ca from liability for any personal injuries or damages to your property that may occur as a result of your operation of the trailer, provided it is in proper working order at the time of rental.
Essentially, the contract and waiver ensure that everyone is on the same page regarding the responsibilities, limitations, and potential liabilities involved in renting and towing a trailer. It helps to avoid misunderstandings and provides a clear framework for the rental agreement, contributing to a smoother and more secure rental experience for all parties involved here in Langley Township.
Providing valid government-issued identification is a standard procedure for all trailer rentals at Rentlz.ca. This is primarily for the following reasons:
- Verification of Identity: It allows us to confirm your identity and ensure that the person renting the trailer is who they claim to be.
- Security and Accountability: It helps us maintain the security of our trailers and establish accountability for the equipment during the rental period.
- Contractual Agreement: Your identification is linked to the rental contract, providing a record of the agreement.
We typically require a valid driver’s license and may ask for an additional piece of identification. Rest assured that any personal information collected is handled securely and in accordance with our privacy policy. This process helps us ensure a safe and reliable rental experience for all our customers in Langley Township.
For the safety of yourself and others on the road, you cannot tow our trailer with a standard car. You will need an SUV or a truck that is properly equipped and capable of towing a trailer with a maximum weight of 3,000 lbs (approximately 1,360 kg).
The good news is that many 6-cylinder SUVs and small trucks on the market today have the necessary towing capacity to handle our trailer. However, it’s crucial to always verify the specific towing capacity of your vehicle as listed in your owner’s manual or by the vehicle manufacturer. Factors such as engine size, transmission, and towing package can significantly affect a vehicle’s towing capabilities.
Before you rent, please ensure your vehicle meets or exceeds the 3,000 lb towing capacity requirement and has the appropriate hitch receiver and wiring for trailer lights and brakes (if applicable). If you’re unsure about your vehicle’s towing capacity, we recommend consulting your vehicle’s manual or contacting your dealership for confirmation. We want to ensure you have a safe and successful towing experience with our trailer!
Our enclosed cargo trailer requires a standard 2-inch square hitch receiver. This is the most common size for trailers of this weight class and ensures a secure and reliable connection to your towing vehicle.
For your convenience, we can supply the appropriate hitch ball mount and a 2-inch ball if you don’t already have one. Please let us know your needs when you make your booking.
It is also possible that your vehicle may have a larger size hitch receiver (e.g., 2 1/2-inch). In this case, you are welcome to tow our trailer as long as you have your own appropriate hitch ball mount and a 2-inch ball that fits securely within your larger receiver. The crucial connection point to our trailer is the 2-inch ball.
Please make sure your vehicle is equipped with at least a 2-inch receiver. Using a different size receiver directly or attempting to adapt will not be safe or permitted. If your vehicle only has a smaller receiver (such as a 1 1/4-inch), you will not be able to tow our trailer.
When you come to pick up the trailer, we will visually inspect your hitch receiver and ball (if you are providing your own) to ensure it is the correct size and in good working order. If you have any questions about your hitch receiver or ball requirements, we recommend consulting your vehicle’s owner’s manual or a local trailer hitch professional before your rental. Ensuring you have the correct equipment is essential for a safe and successful tow.
You will need a 2-inch ball to tow our enclosed cargo trailer. This is the standard size required for a secure and safe connection with the trailer’s coupler.
The absolute maximum weight of the fully loaded 5×12 enclosed trailer is 2,990 lbs (1,356 kg). The trailer itself has a dry weight of 1,165 lbs (528 kg). This leaves a theoretical maximum cargo capacity of approximately 1,825 lbs (828 kg).
However, it’s important to understand that this is the absolute maximum weight, and we strongly recommend not putting that much weight in the trailer. Towing closer to the maximum can impact your vehicle’s performance, fuel efficiency, and handling. For a safer and more comfortable towing experience, it’s generally best to keep your cargo weight well below this maximum.
Also, please be aware that these maximum weight figures are specific to our 5×12 enclosed trailer. Max weights may differ between different trailer sizes and types in our fleet. Always check the specific weight information listed on the trailer you are renting before loading.
For optimal towing and stability, it’s a good idea to load your heavier items over the wheels (the axle). This helps to distribute the weight evenly and prevents too much weight from being concentrated at the front or rear of the trailer. Excessive weight on the tongue hitch (the part that connects to your vehicle) can negatively affect your vehicle’s steering and braking.
Remember to always secure your load properly and distribute the weight evenly within the trailer. If you have any questions about loading, weight distribution, or the specific weight limits of the trailer you are renting from our Langley Township location, please don’t hesitate to ask us! We’re here to help ensure you have a safe and successful towing experience.
We understand that flexibility is important, and we strive to accommodate your schedule for trailer pick-up and drop-off. Our general operating hours for pick-ups and drop-offs are from approximately 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily.
However, to ensure a smooth and efficient process for everyone, and to guarantee that someone is available to assist you, it is essential to arrange a specific pick-up and drop-off time with us in advance. Please contact us when you make your booking or shortly thereafter to coordinate a time that works for both of us. We’re happy to discuss your needs and find a suitable time within our operating window.
Yes, you can take our trailer to the USA. However, the maximum permitted duration for taking the trailer out of Canada into the United States is 30 days. Please ensure your trip falls within this timeframe.
No, absolutely not. Our trailers are not intended for commercial contract work or construction purposes. Their use is strictly limited to personal hauling, moving, and recreational activities.
In the event of a flat tire, you’ll find a spare tire located inside the trailer. You will need to use the jack from your own vehicle to lift the wheel with the flat tire and replace it with the spare tire. Please ensure you have a functioning jack and are familiar with how to use it for your vehicle.
Yes, for your convenience and peace of mind, we will supply locks for the enclosed cargo trailer when you rent from our Langley Township location.
However, it is important to understand that Rentlz.ca is not responsible for the security or any loss, theft, or damage to the contents you place inside the trailer during your rental period. While the locks provide a deterrent, the ultimate responsibility for the safety and security of your belongings rests with you.
For safe operation, the locks should be removed from the trailer doors during transport. Locks should only be used when the trailer is stationary and left unattended. Driving with the locks engaged can cause damage to the locking mechanisms or the trailer doors due to vibrations and movement.
For our current 5×12 enclosed cargo trailer, you can typically fit two dirt bikes comfortably by staggering them within. Alternatively, you can usually fit one full-sized motorcycle securely.
Please note that this capacity is specific to our 5×12 trailer. As Rentlz.ca grows and we potentially add other trailers to our fleet in Langley Township, we may have options available that can accommodate more dirt bikes or motorcycles. Be sure to check the specifications of the specific trailer you are renting if you have a larger hauling need.
For the safe transport of motorcycles and dirt bikes, we recommend using appropriate tie-down straps and wheel chocks (which we can supply) to prevent movement during transit.
Yes, a damage deposit of $300 is required at the time of rental. This deposit will be fully refunded to you upon the trailer’s return, provided that it is brought back in the same condition it was in when it left, excluding normal wear and tear.
The rental contract you will sign outlines in detail what constitutes damage beyond normal wear and tear. Please review this section carefully before you take the trailer. The damage deposit ensures that funds are available to cover any potential repairs or replacement costs if the trailer is returned damaged.
